The Department of Agriculture-Bureau of Plant Industry (DA-BPI), through its Crop Research and Production Support Division (CRPSD), in collaboration with the Asian Social Institute (ASI), an international graduate school based in the Philippines, successfully conducted a Mushroom Cultivation Technology Seminar for farmers from Brgy. Mascap, Rodriguez, Montalban, Rizal on April 4, 2025.
The ASI continuously seeks services from the DA-BPI due to their successful partnership. A total of 125 farmers gained knowledge about mushrooms and an initial idea of how to start a livelihood project program. They are looking forward to a follow-up two-day session detailing the step-by-step processes with the DA-BPI’s mushroom team.
As they reached back to the DA-BPI, they provided further technical service, with Ms. Hazel Joy Pacis serving as a resource speaker on mushroom production. Additionally, they distributed 250 tissue-cultured banana-lakatan seedlings.
This Mushroom Cultivation Technology Seminar is not just a one-off event. It can trigger long-term impacts, especially on the agricultural practices, institutional collaborations, and overall development of the Brgy. Mascap community. With this partnership, the DA-BPI can further extend its mandate in food security and play a key role in fostering better livelihood opportunities for people.
