Basic Mushroom Cultivation Training

The Department of Agriculture – Bureau of Plant Industry (DA-BPI), through the Crop Research and Production Support Division (BPI-CRPSD), conducted basic mushroom cultivation training with residents of Brgy. Immaculate Conception, Farmville, Cubao, Quezon City, on February 18, 2025.

The activity includes lecture and hands-on practicum on different commercial mushroom species, their uses, and common raw materials for substrate preparation. Participants also learned about the nutritive and medicinal value of edible mushrooms.

The participants expressed enthusiasm for transforming underutilized spaces in their community into productive mushroom farms, aiming to establish this high-value commodity year-round.

This initiative aligns with the vision of DA Secretary Francisco “Kiko” Tiu Laurel Jr. to promote income-generating opportunities for individuals and enhance community livelihoods.

The training was expertly facilitated by Ms. Hazel Joy Pacis, assisted by Mr. Johneil Aguilar from BPI-CRPSD.
