The Department of Agriculture – Bureau of Plant Industry (DA-BPI), through the BPI-Crop Research and Production Support Division (BPI-CRPSD), conducted a Plant Nursery Establishment and Accreditation seminar on December 11, 2024. The activity aimed to equip participants with the knowledge and practical skills necessary for successful plant cultivation and effective nursery management.
The seminar featured hands-on demonstrations of various plant propagation techniques, including grafting, marcotting, and patch budding, which would be helpful for them to successfully propagate a wide range of fruit-bearing plants. Plant growth strategies, maximizing space, and effective cultural management were also explained. Additionally, participants had hands-on sessions, enabling them to directly apply the techniques they learned for plant propagation.
This monthly initiative reflects DA-BPI’s commitment to empowering farmers with tools for high-quality food production and sustainable income generation, supporting DA Secretary Francisco “Kiko” Tiu Laurel Jr.‘s vision of boosting food production and enhancing farmer livelihoods.
