Philippines Boosts South Korea Ties at Philippine Business Forum in Seoul

The Philippines creates a deeper connection with South Korea by hosting the Philippine Business Forum in Seoul on April 7, 2025. Headed by the Board of Investments (BOI) and the Philippine Trade and Investment Center (PTIC), the forum aims to attract greater investment and foster deeper economic cooperation. The event brought together a high-level delegation of Philippine government officials, including Department of Agriculture (DA) Secretary Francisco Tiu Laurel Jr., Assistant Secretary Engr. Arnel V. De Mesa, Undersecretary Jerome V. Oliveros, and Bureau of Plant Industry (DA-BPI) Director Gerald Glenn F. Panganiban, Ph.D., alongside prominent business figures from both nations.

A central point of discussion was the CREATE MORE Act, which poses as a significant incentive package designed to attract investors, spur innovation, and develop infrastructure, consequently enhancing the Philippines’ appeal to both local and foreign enterprises. Other important topics were also covered during the forum by experts, speakers such as Secretary Frederick Go delivered a thought-provoking overview of the country’s favorable investment environment, and Undersecretary Ceferino Rodolfo outlined strategic avenues for collaborative ventures with Korea.

This forum marks a significant advancement in the economic partnership between the Philippines and South Korea, driven by a common effort for sustainable growth. Meanwhile, the participation of the DA-BPI further reinforces its dedication to promoting agricultural innovation, as it engages in international partnerships to build a globally competent plant industry in the Philippines.
