With the goal of enhancing local analytical capabilities, DKSH Market Expansion Services Philippines, Inc., in collaboration with Agilent Technologies, conducted a specialized two-day training program for laboratory analysts from the Bureau of Plant Industry (BPI) at Plant Product Safety Services Division (PPSSD) NPAL Building, BPI Compound, Visayas Avenue, Quezon City, on March 18-19, 2025.
The training discussed the advances in pesticide detection and food safety analysis emphasizing the importance of precision and efficiency in today’s regulatory environment. Resource speakers included Mr. Erhan Simsek and Mr. Andrea Leonardi from Agilent Technologies, Ms. Christine Ramos, Mr. Edison Philip Apilo, and Mr. Cris Laurence Moredo from DKSH.
Day one of the program centered on the discussions about the upgrades of the LC-MS/MS and LQTOF technologies for food safety testing. Sessions included in-depth coverage of statistical analysis using Mass Profiler Professional (MPP) software addressing challenges in maintaining method integrity, workflow efficiency, and contamination control.
The second day featured comprehensive presentations on advances in GC-MS for pesticide analysis. The program concluded with practical troubleshooting guides for GC-MS systems and a discussion on various checks that analysts can perform on the instrument.
A highlight of the training was the open forum during the practical training that provided opportunities for BPI personnel to engage directly with industry experts on specific challenges they face during their analysis.
The collaboration between DKSH, a leading market expansion services provider, and Agilent, a global leader in analytical instrumentation, represents an important step in strengthening the technical capabilities of government regulatory laboratories in the Philippines.
