BPI Embarks in a Meaningful Plenary Session

The Bureau of Plant Industry (DA-BPI) held its plenary session on January 23, 2025, at the Director’s Office Conference Room. Organized by the Human Resources Section, the plenary is a part of the 95th Anniversary of BPI with the theme: “Innovating for Climate Resiliency Towards Food and Nutrition Security”.

Climate change, climate smart, and stress management were the topics discussed which directly correlated to this year’s theme. Climate change poses a significant threat to food and nutrition security. Incorporating climate-smart agriculture offers a pathway to mitigate these risks and build resilient food systems. While stress management amongst BPI employees is crucial for the sustainability and successful implementation of any program or project.
Ms. Ma. Jannell Feliz M. Talavera, PDO IV of the DA-Climate Resilient Agriculture Office (DA-CRAO), presented on “DA Climate Change Adaptation Initiatives and Climate Change Impacts on Crop Production.” Mr. Michael Caballes, Chief Farmer and Owner of Bukid Amara Agrifarm, discussed “Climate Smart Agriculture.” Lastly, Dean Joycelyn Acosta Go-Monilla shared insights on “How to Cope with Stress.”

The session was attended by almost 200 participants, including BPI Director Glenn F. Panganiban P.h.D., Assistant Director for Research, Development, and Production Support Services, Herminigilda A. Gabertan P.h.D., Assistant Director for Regulatory Services, Ruel C. Gesmundo, and employees from centers and divisions, highlighting the significance of this timely and relevant activity.

The topics in the plenary aligned with this year’s theme, emphasizing the importance of resilience and adaptability in agriculture and well-being.
