PHOTO RELEASE | The Department of Agriculture-Bureau of Plant Industry (DA-BPI) successfully conducted a Plant Nursery Establishment and Plant Nursery Accreditation Seminar at the Crop Research and Production Support Division Training Area in Malate, Manila, on November 13, 2024.
The seminar was led by experts from the CRPSD and the National Seed Quality Control Services Division (BPI-NSQCS). It was attended by more than 20 participants from Metro Manila and nearby provinces.
Mr. Noli P. Garcia discussed the processes involved in establishing a plant nursery using effective management strategies while Mr. Rolando Villa showcased a range of plant propagation techniques, such as grafting, patch budding, and marcotting.
Ms. Diana Tabudlong presented the guidelines and procedures for becoming an accredited plant nursery and obtaining plant material certification.
The seminar is a monthly activity organized by the bureau to educate individuals on establishing and effectively managing plant nurseries. Additionally, it provides participants with accurate information on the requirements and processes necessary for obtaining accreditation. This initiative aligns with the agenda of DA Secretary Francisco “Kiko” Tiu Laurel Jr. to enhance food production and create employment opportunities through educational initiatives.
