DA-BPI Conducts Urban and Herbal Gardening Training

The Department of Agriculture-Bureau of Plant Industry (DA-BPI), in collaboration with the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) through its Regional Health Service Division, successfully conducted an Urban and Herbal Gardening training at BJMP Makati City on October 18, 2024.

Mr. Ernie Lito “Tholits” Bollosa from the BPI-Crop Research and Production Support Division (BPI-CRPSD) spearheaded the training for BJMP facility personnel and Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDL). The activity featured presentations and hands-on demonstrations to enhance participants’ understanding of cultivating vegetables and herbs.

The BPI also provided agricultural inputs, including essential agri-tools, seeds, and seedlings for herbs and vegetables as starter kits.
The training aims to equip participants with effective plant cultivation techniques to support their rehabilitation while promoting sustainable urban farming practices and alternative food sources.
