DA-BPI joins CLSU’s RIDe Festival

The Department of Agriculture-Bureau of Plant Industry (DA-BPI) joined the Central Luzon State University (CLSU), Muñoz, Nueva Ecija in the celebration of their three-day Research Innovation and Development (RIDe)Festival from October 9-11, 2024.
During the opening program, Dr. Ariel G. Mactal, the Vice President for Administration delivered the welcome remarks. The Overview of RIDe Fest activities was shared by Dr. Edgar A. Orden in the form of a video presentation. Dr. Evaristo A. Abella, the University President, introduced BPI Director, Dr. Gerald Glenn F. Panganiban as the keynote speaker. He was represented by the Assistant Director for Research, Development of Production Support Services Dr. Herminigilda A. Gabertan who shared his message. With the theme “Better Communities through Agriculture and Natural Resources (AANR)-Generated Technologies”, it was emphasized that AANR plays a central role in the country’s development. It is the backbone of food security, livelihood generation, and environmental protection.
The technologies and research innovations generated will foster economic growth and ensure environmental sustainability where farmers, fisherfolk, and entrepreneurs will reap its benefits. Everyone was encouraged to engage, collaborate, and envision a future where innovation and sustainability go hand-in-hand to create better communities. The opening program’s closing remarks was delivered by Dr. Ravelina R. Velasco, the Vice President for Academic Affairs.
Aside from the presentation of completed research and development projects, activities during the RIDe festival also include a parade, fun run, exhibits, cook fest, farmers’/partners’ day, student researchers’ day, and researchers’ gala.
