The Department of Agriculture-Bureau of Plant Industry (DA-BPI) visited cold storage warehouses (CSWs) located in San Rafael Village, Navotas City, and Balut, Tondo, Manila, to monitor the stocks and status of imported white onions on October 4, 2024.
Led by BPI Director Gerald Glenn F. Panganiban, Ph.D., together with the Plant Product Safety Services Division (PPSSD) Chief William F. Mugot and technical team members Mark Kenneth Gonzales, Remie Anne De Manuel, Jennica Alexis Diaz, and plant quarantine officers Jacqueline Ramos and Chandler Jallorina.
The visit is a part of the Bureau’s mandate to assess the stocks and status of imported white onion products and, at the same time, ensure that requirements for importation are followed.
This initiative highlights the DA-BPI’s comprehensive approach to ensuring the safety and quality of allium products, with various divisions working together to support the agricultural sector, particularly in relation to the importation of white onions.
