Sec. Tiu Laurel Jr applauds DA-BPI for its ISO 9001:2015 Certification

The Department of Agriculture (DA), through the Bureau of Plant Industry (BPI), continues to enhance its services to better serve its stakeholders.
On September 30, the ISO 9001:2015 certification was formally awarded by TÜV SÜD Philippines to DA-BPI through DA Secretary Francisco P. Tiu Laurel, Jr., in a ceremony held at the DA Central Office. This demonstrates his dedication to quality service and support to BPI for its continued stride towards operational excellence.
From May to August of this year, BPI engaged TÜV SÜD to conduct an ISO 9001:2015 certification audit for 14 additional offices and a surveillance audit for the four offices that were previously certified.
The scope covered operations in various offices in Los Baños, Davao, Baguio, Iloilo, and Negros Occidental for plant quarantine and seed quality control services, research development, crop production support, and plant product safety services.
Last August, TÜV SÜD confirmed that BPI and its expanded sites meet the ISO 9001:2015 requirements, recommending the awarding of the certification.
This brings the total number of ISO-certified BPI offices to 18!
“I thank you all for your commitment. Together, we will continue pushing for innovation and excellence in the agriculture sector para sa Masaganang Bagong Pilipinas”, Sec Kiko said.
The awarding was witnessed by BPI officials headed by BPI Director Gerald Glenn P. Panganiban, Assistant Directors Herminigilda Gabertan and Ruel Gesmundo, and BPI Chiefs and personnel.
BPI achieved ISO 9001:2015 certification in 2022. This recent audit represents the BPI’s commitment to delivering efficient and quality services.
In closing, Dir. Panganiban said, “We are thankful to the Development Academy of the Philippines (DAP) for the technical assistance they have provided to BPI since 2019, to the BPI ISO Core Teams for leading this journey, and to everyone for your cooperation and commitment to quality service”.
