In support to the Manggahan Festival of the Province of Guimaras, the Bureau of Plant Industry-Guimaras National Crop Research, Development and Production Support Center opened its mango harvest and pay activity on May 15, 2024. The activity started with a ceremonial harvesting of mango participated by representatives from Provincial Government of Guimaras, local government units, academe (Guimaras State University and Guimaras Skills Academy), farmers and other stakeholders.

The activity which will last until May 22, 2024 gave the locals and tourist the opportunity to experience harvesting mango fruits. Moreover, the activity also showcased and promoted different technologies to enhance and preserve the quality of mango fruits. Among the technologies promoted were fruit maturity determination, proper harvesting and postharvest handling, particularly on hot water treatment.

On the first day of the harvest and pay activity, the walk-in participants had fun harvesting and learning more about mangoes.

This activity is aligned with ?? ????????? ????????? “????” ??? ?????? ??.’? vision for food-secured Philippines through promotion of technologies for production of safe and good quality agricultural produce.
