The team visited the Sumifru Philippines Corporation facility in Dacudao, Calinan, Davao City, and the Tagum Agricultural Development Company, Inc. (TADECO) facility in Barangay A.O. Floirendo, Panabo City.

Ms. Aurora L. De Guzman, Senior Agriculturist and Plant Material Certification Section Head at BPI-NSQCS Quezon City, together with Dr. Felipe S. Dela Cruz, Jr., NSQCS Consultant, and Mr. Rafael G. Nemenzo, Agriculturist II from BPI-NSQCS Davao, led the evaluation.

Ms. Lucille Minguez, Deputized Plant Tissue Culture Evaluator and DA-RCPC Head, also joined the team, along with Ms. Kim Ashley Pascual from BPI-NSQCS Central Office Quality Control and Ms. Adelfa Lobres from BPI Davao NCRDC.

The team reviewed the two facilities’ documents, inspected the infrastructure and equipment, and evaluated the nursery and grow-out areas to confirm traceability and compliance with standards for tissue-cultured plants. After the inspection, the team held a technical discussion and exit conference, where they shared their findings and recommendations with representatives from each company.

­

Based on the initial evaluation, both laboratories passed the initial inspection, demonstrating well-maintained facilities and qualified personnel. Once they meet a few additional requirements within the next six months, BPI-NSQCS will recommend both facilities for official accreditation

BPI-NSQCS continues to work with stakeholders to ensure the quality, safety, and traceability of tissue-cultured planting materials, supporting agricultural growth in the Davao Region.
