The Department of Agriculture-Bureau of Plant Industry (DA-BPI) joins the Philippine Coconut Authority (PCA) in the opening ceremony of the 40th National Coconut Week today, August 26, 2026, at the SMX Convention Center, Manila. The celebration brings together entrepreneurs, stakeholders, and private partners to support the continued growth of the coconut industry in the Philippines.
One of the highlights is the opening of the 2026 COCONUT Philippines Trade Fair, which is a collaboration between the PCA and the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) that showcases a wide array of locally produced food and non-food coconut products and provides an avenue to support Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in the coconut industry.
In his message of support, DA Secretary Francisco Tiu Laurel Jr., who was represented by Usec. Roger P. Navarro stated that the Department of Agriculture affirms that the coconut sector remains a strategic priority of the administration. He also highlighted the need to regenerate the coconut economy and future-proof the coconut value chain through systems, technology, and partnerships. These efforts aim to build a more productive, resilient, and profitable industry while creating better opportunities for coconut farmers.
The opening also features a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony led by DTI Secretary Ma. Cristina A. Roque, alongside other officials and stakeholders.
The trade fair will run from August 26 to 30, 2026. The public is encouraged to visit the trade fair and support the country’s coconut industry and the farmers, workers, entrepreneurs, and MSMEs behind it.
