As part of its continuing efforts to promote organic agriculture in the country, the Bureau of Plant Industry – Crop Research and Production Support Division (BPI-CRPSD) spearheaded the National Training of Trainers on Organic Seed Production, Certification, and Seedbanking, held in Bacolod City and at BPI–La Granja from July 27 to 31, 2026.

The training was attended by 54 participants, consisting of technical staff from local government units (LGUs), representatives from Farmers’ Cooperative Associations (FCAs), accredited Participatory Guarantee System–Organic Certifying Bodies (PGS-OCBs), and representatives from the Department of Agriculture Regional Field Offices (DA-RFOs).

Strengthening capacities in organic seed production and seedbanking will help ensure an adequate supply of high-quality organic seeds, boost local food production, and promote more sustainable farming systems in the country. The participants are expected to apply and cascade the knowledge and skills they gained to their respective communities.
