The Bureau of Plant Industry – Crop Pest Management Division (BPI-CPMD) successfully conducted the Information Caravan on Common Urban and Peri-Urban Crop Pest and Disease Management Practices on May 13 and 20, 2026 at the Crop Pest Management Division Conference Room. The activity aimed to enhance participants’ knowledge and skills in sustainable urban agriculture, food safety, and integrated pest and disease management.

The training featured lectures on Urban Gardening, Practices and Techniques in Hydroponics, Ensuring Food Safety in Urban Agriculture, Integrated Pest Management (IPM) Strategies for Pests and Diseases of Vegetables, Common Arthropod Pests, Common Diseases and Disorders, and Biological Control Agents: Importance and Field Utilization. These topics were discussed by technical experts from the Crop Research and Production Support Division, Agricultural Engineering Division, Plant Product Safety Services Division, and Crop Pest Management Division of the Bureau of Plant Industry.

The activity provided participants with practical and science-based information on urban crop production, food safety, and sustainable pest and disease management. Through this initiative, participants gained valuable knowledge to support the adoption of environmentally sound agricultural practices, contributing to improved crop productivity, food security, and sustainable urban agriculture.
