The BPI-BNCRDPSC, with the support of the Organic Agriculture Program (OAP) team and National Urban and Peri-Urban Agriculture Program (NUPAP), assisted in the establishment of an urban garden at the DTI Secretary’s Cottage in Cabinet Hill, Baguio City.
The initiative included garden layout, land preparation, and planting activities aimed at promoting sustainable urban agriculture and encouraging the establishment of productive green spaces in urban communities. Various crops such as snap beans, sweet potato, lettuce, pechay herbs, and spices were planted as part of the activity to demonstrate practical and sustainable urban gardening practices. In addition, organic fertilizer and pots were also provided.
Through this collaborative effort, the activity highlights the importance of urban gardening in supporting food security, environmental sustainability, and community engagement.
