Celebrating Women’s Leadership at National Women’s Month Kickoff

Strength and unity of women were showcased at the Kickoff of National Women’s Month on March 6, 2026, at the Rizal Memorial Coliseum. With the theme “Lead Like the Babaylans, Filipinas,” the program highlighted the success in promoting gender equality in the country.

One of the program’s highlights was the arrival of First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos, who delivered a message from President Ferdinand “Bongbong” R. Marcos Jr. regarding continued support for women’s skills and contributions nationwide.

Joining the celebration were Assistant Director for Research, Development, and Production Support Services, Dr. Herminigilda A. Gabertan, Assistant Director for Regulatory Services Ruel P. Gesmundo, and other employees from the Bureau of Plant Industry (BPI).

Meanwhile, the Crop Research and Production Support Division (BPI-CRPSD) distributed free seeds, seedlings, and mushrooms to the attending women. Using these planting materials, they can grow crops at home and provide nutritious food on their tables. In addition, this initiative can generate additional livelihoods for them while helping build a self-sufficient and food-secure community.

Through this initiative, BPI further strengthened its support for women and promoted a stronger, more prosperous community.
