The Bureau of Plant Industry – Guimaras National Crop Research, Development, and Production Support Center (BPI–GNCRDPSC) held the official turnover ceremony of the DJI Agras T40 agricultural drone from the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TiKA). The event underscored the shared commitment of TiKA and the Department of Agriculture to enhance agricultural productivity and sustainability through modern technologies.

The DJI Agras T40, equipped with precision spraying and mapping features, is expected to boost research and extension initiatives, particularly in promoting smart farming practices among mango growers and other local farmers.

Mr. Yondre Yonder, ACC IV of BPI–GNCRDPSC, welcomed the TiKA delegates and representatives from the Guimaras Mango Growers and Producers Development Cooperative, led by Mr. Romeo Carrera. Dr. Ümit Naci Yorulmaz, Vice President pf of TiKA, highlighted the agency’s people-centered development approach, which promotes economic, social, and cultural growth through cooperative partnerships. Engr. Rhod S. Orquia then presented an overview of the drone project on Guimaras Island.

The program featured a drone flight demonstration at Kokomojo Farm, followed by a site visit to the mango cooperative’s packing house, where relevant issues were discussed. The TiKA team also toured the solar-powered smart greenhouse at BPI–Guimaras, which currently focuses on the production of melons and cucumbers.

The activity symbolized the strengthening of Turkey–Philippines cooperation in advancing agricultural innovation and empowering local farming communities through science and technology.
