BPI Opens New PPSSD Cebu Facility to Strengthen Food Safety and Agricultural Standards

The Bureau of Plant Industry–Plant Product Safety Services Division Satellite Pesticide Analytical Laboratory Cebu (BPI–PPSSD SPAL Cebu) proudly inaugurated its new Cebu City building at Arellano Blvd., San Roque, Cebu City, Cebu on October 16, 2025.

The activity was led by DA Undersecretary for Operations and Agri-Fisheries Mechanization Engr. Roger V. Navarro, together with BPI Director Dr. Gerald Glenn F. Panganiban P.h.D., DA Assistant Secretary and Special Assistant for Export Development Philip C. Young, DA-RFO 7 Regional Executive Director Angel C. Enriquez, BPI-PPSSD Division Chief William F. Mugot, BPI-PPSSD SPAL Cebu OIC Danie Mae Y. Caballero, and DPWH CCDEO District Engineer Manolo B. Madronio, Jr.

The event gathered partner agencies and bureaus of the Department of Agriculture, along with farmers from PhilGAP-certified farms, marking another milestone for safe and sustainable agricultural production.

This new facility is an initiative of BPI and funded by DPWH Region 7, which aims to strengthen food safety testing and certification, and support farmers and exporters through science-based quality assurance.

Together, we move forward through partnership, collaboration, and innovation, building a safer, more resilient future for Philippine agriculture.
