The Department of Agriculture – National Urban and Peri-Urban Agriculture Program (DA-NUPAP), through the Bureau of Plant Industry – Agricultural Engineering Division (BPI-AED), turned over one unit of Greenhouse with Hydroponics System to the Laguna State Polytechnic University (LSPU) – Siniloan Campus, College of Agriculture, on October 14, 2025, at Siniloan, Laguna.

The 12 m x 6 m solar-powered greenhouse structure is equipped with a misting and climate-control ventilation system, designed to support climate-resilient crop production and promote sustainable urban agriculture. This technology helps protect crops from extreme weather and pest infestations—ensuring higher yields and a continuous food supply.

Through this initiative, DA-NUPAP and BPI-AED aim to promote agricultural innovation among students and local farmers, strengthening community efforts toward food security and sustainability.

The turnover ceremony included the awarding of the turnover certificate and a ribbon-cutting ceremony, attended by Dr. Herminigilda A. Gabertan, Assistant Director for Research, Development, and Production Support Services of BPI; Engr. Elaiza Nicole S. Dotimas, OIC-Chief, BPI-AED; Engr. Beltran P. Pedrigal, Vice President for Administration of LSPU; Engr. Carlo L. Realeza, Municipal Agriculturist of Siniloan; Hon. Patrick Ellis Z. Go, Mayor; Mr. Aries C. Tibar, Project Leader; and other LSPU officials.
