On June 19-20, 2025, DA/Bureau of Plant Industry-Guimaras National Crop Research, Development and Production Support Center conducted the Annual Pre-In House R&D Review and Workshop to assess and evaluate the completed, on-going/continuing studies and proposals of the Center.

The 2-day activity highlighted the presentation of one completed study, 7 on-going/continuing studies and 5 research proposals. The studies were reviewed and evaluated by Ms. Viola Katherine M. Gamboa and Ms. Just E. Dagu-ob from the Office of Assistant Director for Research, Development and Production Support Services Assistant Director and Crop Research and Production Support Services Division of the Bureau of Plant Industry and Prof. Adrian C. Alumbro of Guimaras State University.

The workshop on the other hand, highlighted the discussion on BPI 7 R&D Flagship Program and the BPI-RDKTM R&D Forms. It was emphasized the need to the align the Center’s R&D programs, projects activities on the Bureau’s 7 flagship programs that includes crop diversity improvement, sustainable pest management, climate change adaptation, crop production tools and machineries, smart digital agriculture, improved and efficient regulations, and establishment of innovation network.

The conduct of these activities are also in line with the vision of the Department of Agriculture Secretary Francisco “Kiko” Tiu Laurel Jr.’s towards agricultural advancement and sustainable production towards food safety and security.
