The Department of Agriculture – Bureau of Plant Industry (DA-BPI) officially turned over a one fully automated nursery seedling facility to Bukid AMARA Agri Farm last June 9, 2025, in Lucban, Quezon. This initiative highlights the commitment to advancing sustainable agriculture and aligns with several United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), notably SDG 2: Zero Hunger – Enhancing food security through efficient seedling production; SDG 4: Quality Education – Providing training and capacity-building opportunities for local farmers; SDG 9: Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure – Promoting resilient infrastructure and fostering innovation in agricultural practices. This facility can significantly boost seedling propagation, leading to higher yields and more resilient crops.
The ceremony commenced with an opening message from Mr. Carl Vincent D. Gapasin, Officer-in-Charge of the Crop Research and Production Support Division (CRPSD), who emphasized the importance of innovation in agriculture. Ms. Elaiza Nicole S. Dotimas, Officer-in-Charge of the Agricultural Engineering Division (AED), provided an in-depth discussion on the facility’s structure and capabilities.
Mr. Michael S. Caballes, Owner of Bukid AMARA Agri Farm, delivered an acceptance speech expressing gratitude for the support extended by the DA-BPI. The event culminated with the ceremonial ribbon-cutting and the presentation of the certificate of turnover, symbolizing the successful partnership between the DA-BPI and Bukid AMARA Agri Farm.
