DA-BPI Builds Skills in Urban Gardening and Plant Propagation

The Department of Agriculture–Bureau of Plant Industry (DA-BPI), through its Crop Research and Production Support Division (BPI-CRPSD), conducted a training on Urban Gardening and Plant Propagation on May 28, 2025, at the BPI-CRPSD Mushroom Training Room in Malate, Manila.

The day began on a bright note as 46 participants gathered for the session. Notably, many attendees were from Gen Z, inspiring hope for a vibrant and sustainable future in Philippine agriculture.

Resource speakers Mr. Clyde Mark Domingo and Mr. Rolando Villa of CRPSD delivered insightful presentations. Mr. Domingo covered key concepts in urban gardening, while Mr. Villa demonstrated effective plant propagation techniques. To show appreciation, participants received free seeds and Certificates of Participation.

Held monthly, this training empowers individuals with hands-on skills in gardening and propagation. It nurtures the growing interest in urban agriculture, supports the government’s food security initiatives, and promotes access to safe, locally grown food and community-based livelihood opportunities.
