The Department of Agriculture-Bureau of Plant Industry (DA-BPI) and Bukid Amara Agri-Farm signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) at the BPI Conference Room in Malate, Manila on November 27, 2024.
Under the agreement, the DA-BPI and Bukid Amara will collaborate to establish automated greenhouses designed to address the challenges brought by the effects of climate change on seed and seedling production. These greenhouses will serve as a reliable backup source of quality planting materials during natural disasters, enhancing the bureau’s ability to supply seeds and seedlings to vulnerable, disaster-affected populations. This initiative supports DA Secretary Francisco “Kiko” Tiu Laurel Jr.‘s campaign for food security by implementing innovative solutions to ensure a stable food supply.
The MOA was signed by DA-BPI Director and Concurrent Program Director of the National-Urban and Peri-Urban Agriculture Program (NUPAP) Gerald Glenn F. Panganiban, Ph.D., and Owner of Bukid Amara Agri-Farm, Mr. Michael S. Caballes, represented by Senior Agriculturist, Ms. Ladylee Alcala. The signing was witnessed by BPI Agricultural Engineering Division (BPI-AED), OIC, Ms. Elaiza Nicole S. Dotimas, and from Bukid Amara, Ms. Princess Diane Bonite.
